Welcome to the Comprehensive Breast Center Digital Mammography Screening Program at the Bryn Mawr Hospital Health Center!
The Comprehensive Breast Center was the first facility on the Main Line to offer digital mammography. Now we are proud to serve you at our expanded location at the Bryn Mawr Hospital Health Center in Newtown Square. The screening program is specifically designed to provide routine mammograms to patients who have no current breast health issues. The Comprehensive Breast Center team of breast imaging radiologists will be reading your screening study. In addition, computer-aided detection is used in interpreting your study. Your results will be mailed to you within a week.
Keep in mind that approximately 8% (eight out of 100) of our screening patients may need to be seen for follow-up images in order to complete the evaluation. If additional images are needed, you will be contacted promptly by phone to schedule a follow-up appointment at the Comprehensive Breast Center on the main hospital campus in Bryn Mawr. The day you return for these additional images at the main hospital campus, you will be given your results before you leave and have the opportunity to consult with the radiologist or our nurse coordinator. We want you to know that most of the time these additional images will show normal or benign finding.
Even with the enhancements of digital technology, computer-aided detection, and experienced readers, not all breast cancers are found through imaging. If you have or develop any breast symptoms, report them promptly to your physician and make sure that your concerns are addressed.
