Bryn Mawr Hospital Breaks Ground for New Health Center in Newtown Square PA
Bryn Mawr, PA; July 12 2006
More than 100 years ago, Bryn Mawr Hospital founder Dr. George S. Gerhard traveled the countryside by horse drawn carriage to care for his patients.
In that same tradition of reaching out to the community, Bryn Mawr Hospital President Andrea Gilbert and "Dr. Gerhard," portrayed by Russ Bullitt, Executive Director of Development at Bryn Mawr, journeyed the five miles by horse drawn carriage from Bryn Mawr to Newtown Square to join dignitaries for the groundbreaking of the new Bryn Mawr Hospital Health Center on Wednesday, July 12. Joining them for the ride was one of Dr. Gerhard's favorite dogs, "Mikey," who used to accompany Dr. Gerhard on his housecalls.
Located at the Ellis Preserve on West Chester Pike (Route 3) just west of Route 252 in Newtown Square, PA, the new Bryn Mawr Hospital Health Center will be a 130,000 square foot state-of-the-art outpatient facility offering residents of the Newtown Square area more convenient access to Bryn Mawr Hospital's outstanding physicians, nurses and staff and cutting-edge medical technology.
